Maintaining Order While the Kids Are Out of School for the Holidays

The holiday break can be a joyful whirlwind—kids home, routines flipped, and energy levels higher than a roundhouse kick in karate class. For Wareham families, this is the perfect time to reinforce respect, discipline, and confidence by keeping a simple, flexible schedule. Setting consistent wake-up times, planning daily activities, and balancing free play with responsibilities helps maintain structure while still giving kids the freedom to enjoy their time off.

Incorporating martial arts practice into the weekly routine is a powerful way to keep kids active and focused during the break. Even 10–15 minutes a day of basic karate drills, stretching, or strength exercises helps build character, boosts mood, and channels energy in a positive direction. Pairing regular movement with less screen time encourages healthier habits and gives kids more opportunities to develop real-world leadership skills.

Finally, make room for family time—holiday crafts, outdoor walks, or practicing new karate techniques together. When kids see that balance is possible, they carry those habits back to school and beyond. With a little planning and a lot of heart, your home can stay peaceful, productive, and full of holiday spirit all season long.
